Our History
Located in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, our showroom and warehouse serve as your one-stop destination for live bees, commercial-grade beekeeping equipment, and pure beeswax & candle-making supplies. We operate our own retail facility, supply commercial beekeepers with heavy-duty gear, and distribute to agricultural cooperatives and partner stores across all 36 Nigerian states and West Africa. Our mission is to help you grow your apiaries in a cost-effective, sustainable, and profitable way.
Sandalwood Apiaries started in 2020 as a dedicated local breeding apiary with just 15 Langstroth hives in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Our founders had a deep passion for West African apiculture, selective queen rearing, and building precision woodenware suited to tropical climates. What began as a focused bee yard quickly flourished into a trusted regional enterprise. As demand for our woodenware and docile nucleus colonies grew, we began milling and designing a complete line of honey-house equipment—growing rapidly into one of Nigeria’s leading beekeeping equipment and training suppliers.
The quality of our woodenware sets us apart from the rest! Crafted from kiln-dried, sustainably sourced solid timber, we field-test all of our hive bodies, supers, and frames inside our own production apiaries in Oyo State. Managing active colonies in our own equipment season after season allows us to continually refine our joinery and ventilation standards to ensure every piece meets our rigorous benchmarks—and yours.
We stock a comprehensive selection of beekeeping supplies tailored to hobbyist and commercial operations alike. If you have any questions about our products, live bees, or beekeeping in Nigeria in general, please feel free to contact us. Our apiary specialists will be happy to help you find the best equipment for your individual needs.
