3. Live Bees & Queens Policy
Working with live honeybees involves natural biological factors and seasonal weather dependencies:
- Traceable Queens & Nucs: All mated queen bees and 5-frame nucleus colonies are reared, mated, and health-inspected at our breeding apiary in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
- Pickup & Delivery Schedules: Pickups at our Ibadan breeding yard take place on designated dates during scheduled morning (6:30 AM – 9:00 AM) or evening (5:30 PM – 7:00 PM) cooler windows to preserve bee vitality. Regional transit dispatch is coordinated via climate-appropriate ventilated travel boxes.
- Receipt Inspection: Customers must inspect live bees immediately upon pickup or receipt. Any concern regarding queen viability or colony strength must be reported within 24 hours of receipt with photo or video evidence.
- Post-Installation Care: Once installed in your apiary hives, colony survival is dependent on the beekeeper’s management, local forage, and weather conditions. Sandalwood Apiaries is not responsible for losses caused by post-transfer absconding, starvation, or pests (such as Small Hive Beetles or wax moths).
4. Beekeeping Equipment & Shipping

6. Health, Safety & Inherent Risk Disclaimer
Beekeeping carries inherent risks, including bee stings and potential allergic reactions:
Warning: Honey bee stings may cause severe or life-threatening systemic allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) in sensitive individuals.
