Hands-On Beekeeping Training & Practical Apiary Workshops

At Sandalwood Apiaries, we believe hands-on mentorship inside a working apiary is the fastest way to build confidence with live honey bees. Hosted at our demonstration apiaries in Ibadan, Oyo State, our educational workshops blend classroom science with real-hive inspections under the guidance of experienced apiculturists.

Training Tracks for Hobbyists, Farmers & Commercial Investors

• Beginner Practical Beekeeping Bootcamp: Learn bee biology, hive assembly, safe smoker lighting, reading brood frames, spotting the queen, and preventing absconding.

• Commercial Queen Rearing & Colony Multiplication Workshop: Master grafting larvae, starter/finisher cell builders, mating nuc management, and scaling from 10 hives to 100+ hives.

• Honey Harvesting, Beeswax Rendering & Value-Addition Masterclass: Hands-on training in hygienic centrifugal extraction, moisture testing, creamed honey, beeswax cosmetics, and NAFDAC/export packaging standards.

Important: All protective bee suits, veils, gloves, hive tools, and course workbooks are provided for participants during live yard sessions—just wear closed-toe boots!

Q: Do I need to own hives before attending a Sandalwood Apiaries workshop?
A: Not at all! Many of our students attend our Beginner Bootcamp first so they can handle live frames comfortably and decide which hive system and starter kit best fits their land.

Q: Do you offer private on-farm training and commercial apiary consulting?
A: Yes. Our specialist team conducts site assessments, orchard pollination setups, and customized staff training for commercial farms, universities, and NGO agricultural programs across Nigeria.
